In Filipino culture, the Bahay Kubo is not only a traditional house made of bamboo and nipa leaves, but also a symbol of unity and family.
Inspired by the local folk song that portrays the simple life in the countryside, the bahay kubo is surrounded by various local herbs and vegetables, as illustrated on the scarf.
This design brings together the artist’s cultural heritage of being Chinese Filipino, with the verse written in beautiful calligraphy using the chinoiserie motif.

Material & Craftsmanship
Smooth and lustrous, this JIM Weaver scarf is made of 100% natural silk twill and is 90×90 cm big. Hems are hand-rolled, so no two scarves are alike. Natural silk can last a lifetime with proper care. We recommend dry-cleaning only and no hot iron for best results.
Packaging
Your scarf will be delivered in a free gift box, tied with a ribbon and finished off with a free gift tag where you can write notes to your loved ones. Inside, each scarf will be wrapped in Japanese paper and comes with a card insert in premium paper that describes the design inspiration and care instructions.
Artist Info
She can transform words into art with her inks, pens and brushes. While modern calligraphy is typically her chosen art medium, JIM Weaver artist and co-founder Mischel Ocier Mendoza also enjoys other art forms such as painting, scrapbooking, and digital art with her stylus pen.

₱ 3,850.00This design was our first foray into Filipino culture and tradition. Its main subject is a “diwata,” known in Philippine mythology as a goddess or spirit guardian of a region. She is inspired by Maria Makiling, one of the most popular Filipino diwatas and the protector of Mount Makiling in the Laguna province. Surrounded by Philippine botanicals, she is believed to protect the bounty of the land. The soft peaks and valleys of the mountain is said to be seen in the gentle slope of her sleeping form.
